Life winds you up - Wellness Yoga unwinds

Wellness Yoga

Many forms of yoga today are dynamic, strength and stamina focussed practices that work upon the yang aspect of our bodies - the muscles.  Wellness Yoga offers you the opportunity to explore the 'quiet practice' of Yin Yoga.  This is a relatively passive practice that gently stretches and rehabilitates the connective tissue that is concentrated at our joints. As we unwind tension from the body, we also unwind tension from the mind.

Wellness Yoga also offers strengthening (Yang) practices, recognising that on the path to wellness - balance is the key.  Yin Yoga in particular though, is very accessible to a wide range of people, with many finding that it opens the doorway to stronger exercise and / or enhances their ability to enjoy it.

Freedom of Movement

We can benefit from having a basic understanding of our individual anatomy and patterns of holding tension. Wellness Yoga offers you a path towards understanding and supporting your own unique structure and needs.

Our bodies adapt to the demands made of them, making it vital that we incorporate a full range of movement in our joints.  When our movements are limited, the connective tissue slowly shortens to the required length. Wellness Yoga works to enhance freedom of movement.

"The soft tissues of the body are uniquely changing all the time – affected by what we think, what we do and what we eat. Every day, just being alive, tissues tighten. We practice yoga not for aesthetics but to unwind each day the tensions of the body and mind."  Paul Grilley
